Lorraine Russell of Baildon, West Yorkshire recently attended Virtual College premises at nearby Ilkley to take her ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) test. Virtual College is a registered Test Centre for the British Computer Society.

Lorraine decided to do the course to enhance her employment prospects and because she thought it would be useful when she begins her studies at university. She says she has found that the skills and knowledge she has gained from doing the ECDL have been very useful both at home and at college, where she is currently studying.

"I found the course really interesting and learnt lots of new skills that I could use on a day to day basis" Lorraine says. "Both the course provider and Virtual College were really helpful and the friendly staff gave me lots of advice and support. Before starting the course I was already quite competent on the computer, but the ECDL taught me lots of shortcuts that made using the computer much easier and more efficient. The assessments were fairly simple, as long as all the revision had been completed", she added

Having originally chosen Virtual College as a venue to take her test because it provided the full version 4.5 ECDL course at a reasonable price, she says she would have no hesitation in recommending Virtual College to future university friends and work colleagues.

Lorraine, pictured holding her certificate, passed the assessment with flying colours and achieved an average pass rate of 87% over the seven modules.
