Turning Private Sector Thinking into Public Sector Excellence
Continuing to back up our e-learning with a face to face methods, last month the Safeguarding Children e-Academy ran our first 'Turning Private Sector Thinking into Public Sector Excellence' session. This best practice sharing event, designed to examine ways in which public sector organisations can use private sector methods to help protect and build their services during this period of government austerity, was attended by 10 Safeguarding Children e-Academy members.
Items discussed included; how to market LSCB training effectively, ways to ensure training is delivered in a best value manner and how to ensure delivery is maximised. After the event a check list was created so that those who attended could audit their current service to see which areas of their provision and how it is delivered could be improved.
The event was so well received that a number of further sessions across the UK, are being planned in the near future, if you would be interested in attending a session please let us know by emailing events@safeguardingchildrenea.co.uk or calling 01943 885083.
Statutory & Mandatory e-Learning Packages Performing Well

All courses are available but the most popular include: Infection Prevention & Control, Fire Safety, Lone Working in the NHS and Health and Safety for Healthcare.

Launching the First Child Protection e-Learning Courses that reflect current Scottish best practice, guidance and legislation.
We’ve launched our first two Scottish Child Protection Training Courses, 'An Introduction to Getting Right it Right for Every Child' (GIRFEC) and 'Level Two Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect', are the first child protection e-learning courses produced especially for the Scottish children's workforce. Both of these courses have been designed to fill the gap in training in Scottish child protection e-learning provision. Due to the wide open spaces that Scotland is world famous for, attending face to face training sessions can be both time consuming and expensive. These new e-learning courses offer the Scottish children's workforce the chance to complete training in GIRFEC and Child Abuse and Neglect at a pace, via distance learning in a place and time that suits them; which will help to improve and widen the take up of training amongst people who work with children and young people.
More information on Scottish Child Protection e-learning courses is available on our e-Academy site here http://www.childprotectionea.co.uk, or you can call Charlotte Nutland 01943 885083
An Introduction to 'Getting it Right for Every Child'
This bitesize course explains the 'Getting it Right for Every Child' (GIRFEC) model which is a new national approach in Scotland for those supporting and working with children and young people. It affects all services for children and adults where children are involved and therefore is relevant for all children and adult services staff.
GIRFEC has been designed to ensure all parents, carers and professionals work effectively together to give children and young people the best possible start and improve their life opportunities. It accomplish this by; encouraging changes in culture, systems and practice across services for children, promoting a child centred approach and engendering a common understanding and shared language across all agencies. The ultimate aim of GIRFEC is that child protection activity culminates in better outcomes for all children.
Level 2 Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect
This course created specifically for Scotland covers a variety of child protection issues and is suitable for anyone who comes into contact with children and young people. It aims to inform about the various types of child abuse and neglect and then explains what you must do if you suspect that a child is being abused or neglected.
