E-learning news: Non-uni qualifications are 'well thought of' by businesses
Qualifications such as those gained through online training courses or hands-on apprenticeships offer people different ways to get skills, an expert has claimed.
Denise Taylor, career psychologist at amazingpeople.co.uk, reassured jobseekers who have or are looking for qualifications from outside of the university environment - such as apprenticeships - that they are thought of just as favourably by businesses and can land a person their dream job.
She claimed that apprenticeships are even "well thought of" by businesses "because people are gaining the skills that are required for the job".
Ms Taylor advised candidates to think about "what [they] can do that will enable [them] to get a portfolio together" to build up evidence of their experiences.
Apprenticeships in the electrical field could also be supplemented through online electrical courses and further 17th edition training.
Iain Macdonald, head of education at the Electrical Contractors' Association, claimed that online learning should be considered as an option for training in that sector in the future.
