It is vital that those working within health, social care or children and young people’s settings not only understand what it means to have a duty of care in their work role but also how to effectively implement duty of care in everything they do.

On completion of this e-learning course, learners will be able to outline, understand and act upon their duty of care helping to ensure the safety and well-being of those they support and for their own professional development to ensure the balance between acting on their responsibilities and allowing people the rights to make choices.

On completion of this course learners will be able to:

  • Identify how duty of care contributes to safe practice
  • Address conflicts or dilemmas that may arise between an individual’s rights and the duty of care
  • Outline how to respond to complaints
