Overview - Information Technology (IT) Skills Suite - Office 2007/Windows Vista (mapped to the ECDL Syllabus 5)

Following the ECDL syllabus (version 5 - Office 2007 / Windows Vista), this "Thirdforce" course consists of 7 modules which cover the basics of computing, various popular software packages and the internet and e-mail. The learner, once the course has been successfully completed, will be able to understand key concepts in IT including security issues, use a computer to organise files and folders, use word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and database applications, and use the internet and email.

The skills suite is perfect for helping anyone to learn and feel comfortable with Microsoft IT application – from beginners just starting to get to grips with IT to daily users who are looking to broaden their IT skills.

Please note you will need Internet Explorer in order to run this training material.

Accreditation

When you have successfully completed your course, you will be able to print out a Virtual College certificate. If you then wish to go on to take the official BCS (British Computer Society) test as part of the full ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) seven module qualification, please follow this link to find a BCS Test Centre in your area as you will need to take the invigilated test by visiting the test centre.

Certification

Duration

Approximately 70 hours. It is estimated that this module will take approximately 70 hours to complete (depending on learning speed). As an e-learning module you can complete this training in convenient stages and revisit whenever you wish. The system will record your progress throughout. You have six months to complete the training and associated test.
