Overview

This course is provided by Learning4Business. Having completed this course you will, on returning to your job role, by able to:

ensure that employment policy and employee behaviour does not contravene current and planned UK law in respect of disability discrimination

promote a culture of equal opportunity that operates within a framework of UK disability discrimination law

Having achieved the learning outcomes of the course, you will be able to make a positive contribution to equal opportunity in respect of disability, in your workplace, thanks to the confidence resulting from a thorough knowledge of what is, and what is not, acceptable in law.

Following completion of the course, you will not only be able to contribute positively to organisational equal opportunity policy in respect of disability issues, but will also, where necessary, understand the boundaries of your own behaviour in respect of discriminatory behaviour in this area.

The course is divided into 6 sections covering the following areas:

  • Disability Discrimination Act 1995
  • defining 'disabled'
  • who is protected and from what?
  • scope of employment provisions
  • justifications
  • 'reasonable adjustment'
  • The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Amendment) Regulations 2003
  • The Disability Discrimination Act 2005

Certification

On completion of this course you will be able to download a Virtual College certificate.

Duration

Approximately 40 mins. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the course.
