Overview - Managing Stress and Pressure

This module is all about how, by gaining understanding of what stress and pressure are and what factors affect them, you can have an influence on the wellbeing of your team. Prevention is always better than a cure, so if you understand how the body works you can begin to take active steps to promote positive wellbeing and minimise the effects of stress.

The module educates managers on how to manage pressure in themselves and others and details the legalities and implications of stress at work. It looks at what factors affect wellbeing and cause stress, and how to identify stress signs and how they can be prevented.

Having completed the module learners will have gained an introduction to:

  • What factors affect wellbeing
  • How mental and psychological health problems can affect you
  • Managing pressure and stress

The programme has been created by Wellbeing4business in partnership with the Virtual College and has been written by experts in Occupational Health, attendance and employment law. Main contributors were Joan Lewis, Dr Les Smith and managers and Human Resources professionals at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.

The training and test usually take approximately 2 hours to complete (depending on learning speed). As it is an e-learning course learners are able to work at their own pace, breaking off and resuming their study as appropriate. The system automatically tracks progress throughout.
