Having completed this course you will be able to conduct health and safety risk assessments, and record the process and outcomes, in a manner acceptable to the health and safety enforcement authorities.

Since 1999, employers have been required to carry out risk assessment in respect of all significant workplace hazards. For some managers this creates a number of issues, namely how to carry out the assessments, to what level of detail and how to record the activity. Having completed this course, you will feel competent and able to conduct risk assessments efficiently, and to appropriate standards.

Failure to comply with the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999 results in prosecution and heavy penalties for employers. Such prosecutions rarely arise from any wilful intention to break the law, but rather through either an ignorance of the legal requirements or a lack of understanding of how to comply with them. By requiring managers and/or health and safety staff to undertake this course such problems are more likely to be avoided.

• How to identify workplace hazards
• How to establish those at risk
• Evaluating levels of risk
• Hazard removal
• Risk control
• Recording the process and outcomes
• Ongoing risk review

On completion of this course you will be able to download a Virtual College certificate.

Duration

Approximately 40 mins. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the course.
