Overview - Runaways - South Yorkshire Protocol

This e-learning module will provide you with the information to:

  • Enable staff and managers to understand the national and local context for runaways.
  • Enable staff and managers to make an informed and effective response both individually and in a multi-agency context.
  • Prevent children and young people from running away where possible.
  • Ensure children and young people are kept safe from harm.
  • Minimise the risk of repeat running away.

This module benefits both individuals, perhaps working as volunteers, and staff, who will feel more confident that their response to runaways is effective and in accord with the agreed protocol in South Yorkshire. The benefits will also be felt by children and young people who will have a sensitive and responsive service that meets their needs.

This module was produced in partnership with Connexions South Yorkshire and has a number of screens specifically aimed at South Yorkshire protocols. However, the majority of the module deals with general and national issues.
