Safeguarding Children Refresher Training

Overview

It is a statutory requirement for anyone who works with children to update their knowledge of legislation and guidance and maintain the ability to act on concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people. The government guidance suggests that refresher training should take place every three years. Whilst necessary, this can be costly for organisations and frustrating for staff, who may have heavy case loads and find it difficult to get away from work to attend a refresher course.

The Safeguarding Children e-Academy has developed an online refresher course in collaboration with experts from 6 Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs), which covers all the changes in Safeguarding over the last three years.

On completion of this course learners will be able to:

• Identify the changes to practice over the past three years
• Identify different levels of harm and the appropriate safeguarding processes to be followed
• Understand safeguarding children issues from a national perspective

Accreditation

The content of this course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines

Certification

On completion of this course you will be able to download a Virtual College certificate.

Duration

Approximately 2 - 3 hours. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the course.

Target Audience

This module is targeted primarily at people who work with children, young people or their families. Please be aware that this training content deals with a potentially disturbing subject matter and material and images used may be of a graphic nature. The module carries links to help lines and national support agencies that can be contacted should you feel the need to talk about the subject to someone other than your colleagues or manager.
