Overview - Word Processing - Office 2007 / Windows Vista (mapped to the ECDL Syllabus 5 Module 3)

Following the ECDL syllabus (version 5 - Office 2007 / Windows Vista), this module teaches word-processing skills using Microsoft Word 2007. After taking this course, learners will know how to use Microsoft Word to create professional-looking documents. They will be able to lay out text, images and tables on a page to produce a variety of documents – letters, newsletters, CVs, reports and so on. The course is supplemented by tasks, assignments and a project, which allow learners to practise their newly acquired skills and encourage communication with their tutor.

Lesson Plan

  • Using the Application – working with documents, enhancing productivity
  • Document Creation – enter text, select, edit
  • Formatting – text formatting, paragraph formatting, styles
  • Objects – table creation and formatting, graphical objects
  • Mail merge – preparation, outputs
  • Prepare outputs – set-up, check and print

Accreditation

When you have successfully completed your course, you will be able to print out a Virtual College certificate. If you then wish to go on to take the official BCS (British Computer Society) test as part of the full ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) seven module qualification, please follow this link to find a BCS Test Centre in your area as you will need to take the invigilated test by visiting the test centre.

Certification

Duration

Approximately 10 Hours. It is estimated that this module will take approximately 10 hours to complete (depending on learning speed). As an e-learning module you can complete this training in convenient stages and revisit whenever you wish. The system will record your progress throughout. You have six months to complete the training and associated test.
