Performance Tester

The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Performance Tester to join our software development team. This role is a newly created position where somewhere has the opportunity and autonomy to make a real impact in our performance.

In this role you be will required to work alongside our Scrum teams to aid in delivering the most effective and performant software possible. You will lead the building of processes and frameworks for a successful performance testing environment.

Key Duties:

  • Responsible for specifying and training staff on performance testing tools and techniques
  • Work with Scrum teams to integrate performance testing into the Scrum workflow
  • Prepare test plans, specifications, procedures and controls to provide a structured approach to testing and the reports of testing outcomes
  • Creation of documentation and test scripts from technical specifications
  • Plan and prepare rigorous, formal, visible and repeatable tests
  • Conduct regression testing; load and stress testing; multiple platform testing; utilise defect tracking systems; and ensure re-testing occurs
  • Carry out sufficient resilience testing
  • Production of performance testing documentation
  • Liaise closely with Product Owners to ensure sufficient time is built into the release cycle to allow for thorough systems testing
  • To work collaboratively with IT Infrastructure team to specify what is needed for the test labs required to run all performance tests
  • Flag any danger issues to the Developers and Product Owners so that preventative measures can be made in the sprint cycle

Key Skills/Experience:

Essential Skills:

  • 4 years’ experience of testing in a web development environment working within the full test life cycle.
  • Experience of automated test tools
  • Reasonable amount of knowledge of web services, SQL server and have server level performance monitoring skills.
  • A general understanding of IT infrastructure

Desirable Skills:

  • Basic C# knowledge – training can be provided
  • A general understanding of IT infrastructure
  • GIT Source Control Management – training can be provided
