Having an attractive, user-friendly website is essential in modern day business. However, having a great looking website is only the start. With so much competition on the internet, it is easy for websites to be overlooked on search engines due to low rankings.
With over 3.5 billion Google searches per day globally, it is the go-to search engine platform for finding out information about anything and everything. Therefore, it is important for businesses to prioritise the optimisation of their website so that it appears at the top of search engine results, such as Google’s, ensuring that potential customers can easily find and access their website.
Businesses trying to attract customers without a website will find it a difficult task. Even those businesses which do have a website can lose out on customers due to critical errors they make. They neglect to include key information, such as what their business does, where it is located, when is it open, and what products are available.
These poor website experiences are likely to result in customers spending money at a competitor’s website. This not only results in the lost of potential customers, but it can damage a business’s reputation too.
Here at Virtual College, we recognise the importance of a business website, which is why we have created eight bitesize modules that will help you develop those skills needed to create a successful website.
Having your own website has many benefits. It gives your business credibility, provides 24-hour availability, is convenient for your customers, and creates the potential to increase sales and build up your customer base.
But in order to create a successful website, there are many different elements you need to first understand – some are important to your visitors, and others are important ‘behind the scenes’ elements.
This elearning course explores these elements including how to write effective website copy, the advantages and disadvantages of using website design tools, how to make your website mobile friendly, and much more.
This course is broken down into eight bitesize modules which cover the basics of website management:
On completion of this course, you will be able to:
The content of this training has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.
These modules were developed alongside The Tech Partnership to support the Digital Business Skills qualification. The Tech Partnership operated from 2014 to 2018 as a network of employers collaborating to create the skills for the UK digital economy.
This training will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete, depending on how quickly learners can study and absorb the material. Learners do not have to complete all the training in one session as progress is recorded throughout.
This website management training course is aimed at those with little or no prior experience in digital business and marketing and who wish to develop their knowledge of website management, and how best to use it to market their business.
This includes training providers who deliver face-to-face training in digital skills and wish to offer a blended programme; individuals who wish to upskill and develop their website management skills, and businesses who wish to increase website management skills in-house.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.
At the end of each bitesize course there will be a test, which consists of 15 multiple choice questions. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark, and, if necessary, may attempt the test six times at no extra cost. If learners do not achieve the 75% pass mark, further attempts may be given by contacting our support team.
Learners will be able to download digital certificates on completion of each bitesize module. These can be printed, and we suggest you keep it for your records
