Our Epilepsy Assessment has been designed in partnership with ESNA and is the only assessment referenced in ESNA's newly released guidelines. Accessible anywhere with an internet connection, the assessment will take approximately 25 minutes to complete.
The Epilepsy Nurses Association (ESNA) has launched best practice training guidelines for carers administering buccal midazolam for epilepsy patients in the community.
To support the implementation of the guidelines, our team have created an online assessment tool to ensure best practice is maintained in social care organisations when administering buccal midazolam.
Our assessment is suitable for staff providing care or support to individuals with epilepsy who have already completed face-to-face training and need to demonstrate they have absorbed the required knowledge to provide a high quality service.
Please note, this is an assessment not a training course. ESNA strongly recommend that training is carried out by a qualified face-to-face trainer before carrying out this assessment.
There are two versions of this assessment. One for users who are expected to administer Buccal Midazolam as part of their role and one for those who are not required to administer this medication. During set up you will be asked which version of the assessment you would like to complete. If you are not clear which version of the assessment you should take, please ask your manager before proceeding to purchase.

Users will have three attempts to complete the assessment. On successful completion of the course users will be given access to a downloadable certificate which can be printed.
The preferred browser to access the assessment is Google Chrome. It is also accessible via Internet Explorer.

We will also send your purchase receipt to this email address, and any additional courses purchased in future using the same email address will be added to your system account.
If you choose to pay via PayPal, we will use the email address linked to your PayPal account to create your Enable system account.
Once you have purchased a course, you will be able to send this course to other people using your system account with Enable by entering the new learner’s email address so that they may access the training and set up their own system account with our Learning Management System.

This online course consists of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk learners through the lesson material. Pages may include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate. Some lessons will include challenges/quizzes to help learners stay engaged and interested in the material. Lessons can be taken in any order and each lesson may be paused and resumed at any stage.
The course is self-paced so learners decide how fast or slow the training goes. There is no deadline for completion but some of our courses have a test at the end to check that learners have understood the material. If the course has a test at the end then learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark to successfully complete the course. Once learners have passed the test they are awarded a certificate, which can either be downloaded digitally or sent as a physically copy if this option was chosen when purchasing the course.
Upon completion of any of our courses, learners will be able to download a digital certificate from Virtual College and will include the accrediting bodies logo where applicable.
