Safer recruitment is designed to help those who are responsible for hiring anyone who works with children, to identify and deter or reject individuals who are deemed to be at risk of abusing children. 

It’s crucial that all employers have a recruitment policy in place that takes into account safer recruitment best practices and considerations. This course covers key topics including: advertising, application forms, selecting candidates for interview based on the information they have presented, and post-interview checks before making an offer of employment.

This Safer Recruitment course has been updated to be compliant with new Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022 legislation and how this applies in the workplace or when working with children and young people.

We also go through communicating with candidates, applications and references.

NHS Safer Recruitment

This module take you through the NHS process verifying that a candidate meets the preconditions of the role they are applying for. We explain what pre-employment checks are and who they apply to, as well as identify cases where safer recruitment process could have prevented, or limited, the abuse of patients.

This course includes case examples, and challenges to help professionals check their knowledge and apply it into everyday working life. This course is suitable for people working in roles in HR and those involved in recruitment of staff.

Duration

Approximately 2 hours. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. The course is self-paced, you do not have to complete all the training in one session. Your progress will be recorded throughout.

    While there isn’t a set expiry date for a safer recruitment certificate, the general rule is that they should be renewed at least every three years.

    Keeping Children Safe in Education advises that safeguarding training should be conducted at least annually. The Designated Safeguarding Lead is recommended to refresh their own training every two years, as are any deputies.

    When buying one of our courses, you will need to enter a valid email address which will be used to create your account with our Learning Management System – Enable – where you will take the training.     This online course consists of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk learners through the lesson material. Pages may include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate.
