Food hygiene at Hull pub "very poor"

schedule 6 years, 7 months, 2 days by Virtual College in Food Hygiene

Food hygiene training may be on the cards for Hull-based pub The Oyster Catcher after it received a score of just five per cent from health inspectors checking the kitchen and food preparation areas.

The popular family restaurant was given a rating of "very poor" by Hull City Council, which is now considering legal action against the establishment, the Hull Daily Mail reports.

This is one of the lowest grades ever handed out since the Scores on the Doors initiative was launched four years ago, a scheme that councillor Mike Ross said has helped improve quality across the metropolis.

He went on to say: "The fact that the ratings are public has given food outlets much more incentive to improve and take pride in their standards, especially those who have been found with poor practice."

Similarly, a Subway sandwich shop in Edinburgh recently failed to meet food safety standards and was fined £4,000 by the city council following an inspection of the premises in January.
