Wrexham Council announces crackdown on food hygiene

schedule 21st June 2011 by Virtual College in Food and Drink Last updated on 7th July 2016

Businesses working towards receiving their health and hygiene certificate could be interested in a recent announcement from Wrexham Council.

According to the Daily Post, food safety officials are set to take part in a series of thorough inspections in a bid to improve hygiene standards in the town.

Bacteria found in supermarket trolleys will come under scrutiny as part of the plans, which aim to encourage increased cleanliness in establishments.

In addition, undercooked meat used to produce pate will be tested to ensure it is safe for the consumption of community members.

"Wrexham has a very good record when it comes to managing food processes throughout the county and the recent E.coli case demonstrated we have very robust plans in place to deal with problems", remarked Dave Bithell, lead council member for environment and transport.

The local authority's dedicated food safety consultants urge members of the public to speak up if they experience unacceptable food hygiene in any restaurants or shops in the town
