An e-learning conference has been held in Kuwait in an effort to make clearer the role of the teacher is such online training courses.

The Educational Holding Group hosted the symposium, which took place on Tuesday November 23rd in the country under the patronage of the minister of education and higher education, Dr Moudhi Al-Humoud.

It focused on transparency when it comes to setting out the requirements for being a moderator or invigilator in virtual classrooms, as well as the future of this sort of pedagogy.

Human capital training and HR resources required were looked at, while new prospects for learning were also touched upon.

"We believe that the e-learning concept will only succeed if our human assets are fully prepared and motivated to apply the new ICT skills and abilities in the teaching and learning environment," chairman of the Educational Holding Group Dr AbdulRahman Al-Muhailan said.

Elsewhere, Martin Baker, managing director of leadership and management learning specialists LMMatters, told Personnel Today online training services need to work with, rather than against, the recession.
