E-learning technology unveiled in Kenya by UK firm

schedule 3rd March 2011 by Virtual College in Virtual College

One British company is offering video conferencing software, which can also be used for online learning, to improve communications for businesses in Kenya.

Avaya joins Cisco, Radvision and Polycom in being a multinational organisation unveiling the technology in the country where regional branches of companies are attempting to cut back on travel costs, Business Daily reports.

The firm's new solution offers businesses the opportunity to channel all their communication through their laptops or desktops without having to purchase additional hardware.

Middle East and Africa emerging markets vice-president Nidal Abou-Ltaif explained: "Business process outsourcing centre expansion programmes, e-learning and the construction of the digital villages shall spur the use of video."

Avaya hopes to reach out to banks and companies in the telecommunication, insurance and oil sectors whose operations go beyond Kenyan borders.

Last year, BNP Paribas managed to cut back on its budgeted travel costs by 15 per cent, which BT claimed was due to the video conferencing software it provided the company.
