E-learning course to train companies on UK Bribery Act

A leading software development company has teamed up with a London-based commercial law firm to develop a new online training course on the UK Bribery Act.

The course for the anti-corruption legislation, which came into effect on July 1st, represents a novel approach in training businesses on essential information and is designed to protect organisations from liability under the law.

Skillsoft and Davenport Lyons, the respective software developer and law firm behind the new course, developed the online learning programme because the UK act is far more stringent than the long-running Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the US.

Laura Livingstone, employment partner at Davenport Lyons, said: "Under the new law, companies can no longer claim ignorance as an excuse when its employees engage in criminal activity."As such, the course could well become a vital tool as part of many organisations' basic training.

This comes as recent figures from Ambient Insight revealed that global revenue from e-learning products is expected to grow to £31 billion by 2015.
