Residents Academy utilises e-learning to help train students

Spectrum Housing Group has launched a new training academy designed to assist in residents' education goals, with online training programs forming a key part of the project.

Named the Residents Academy, the scheme aims to encourage members from the housing group's community forums and constituents of the Spectrum Residents Group to embark on e-learning programs, which form the primary means of delivery in the courses.

Training modules include communication skills, equality and diversity, housing, and presentation skills which have all elicited a "great response", according to Sharon Burrows, head of learning and development at Spectrum.

She added: "We want our residents to develop their skills in areas where they feel this will be beneficial, from administration to professional courses."

The academy forms a key part of the south-west housing group's strategic aim of being recognised as one the best providers of accommodation and housing services.

E-learning's continued prominence in providing education solutions at all levels was highlighted recently through the creation of another software program designed to assist company employees on the new UK Bribery Act, which came into force on July 1st.
