Security professionals offered accredited online course
The Security Institute has launched an e-learning version of its respected industry qualification in security and risk management.
Managing the accreditation of security professionals, the Security Institute acts as the industry's main representative body, traditionally delivering their distance training courses via a mixture of physical textbooks and CD-Roms.
However, the new online courses - currently a BTEC Level Five Professional Diploma or Level Three Advanced Certificate - will together be administered with Blackburn College as part of its foundation degree in security management, launched this year.
"The course offers potential students working in the industry access to an academic qualification," commented Roshani Swift, associate dean of the University Centre at Blackburn College.
Ms Smith added: "The Foundation Degree will enable students to progress to a top-up year BA (Honours) Degree."
Meanwhile, the president of the International E-Learning Association (IELA) David Guralnick claimed that following hundreds of simulations of e-learning programmes, the IELA found no evidence that motivation to use virtual learning was a problem.
