Tips to engage your customers better
Customers are a crucial part of your business, since without them you wouldn't be able to generate profits or in fact, run your company at all. It's important, therefore, to keep their best interests in mind and seek out ways in which you can improve your services to make them better engaged. If you're feeling uninspired about how to be more effective at engaging your customers, why not follow these tips?
Ensure employees are engaged
Your employees are the face of your business and essentially the people who draw your customers in. If your employees aren't engaged, then you can't expect your customers to be. The most important step, therefore, is to ensure your employees feel motivated and driven, as this will immediately be apparent to your customers. Hold training mornings or afternoons where your employees can complete fun, work-related tasks in teams and hold the floor for questions and answers to allow your staff to voice their opinions. You could also send out a questionnaire that your employees can fill out anonymously, in order to receive feedback that they may not feel comfortable expressing in person. This will provide you with an insight into various factors that you could address in the workplace to encourage your staff to feel more engaged.
Adopt an assertive communication style with your customers, as opposed to an aggressive one. This means you actively listen to your customers' needs and then offer them the best solution. Taking your customers' priorities into consideration will show them that you care, encouraging a relationship of trust between you and them. This will make them more likely to return to your services, as well as recommend you to friends and family.
Make use of various channels
In today's tech-savvy world, it's likely your customers are tuned into a range of online platforms. Social media is great for enabling businesses to thrive and bring in new customers. If you haven't already, set up social media accounts for your business - be it on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram - and ensure they are updated regularly. It's a good idea to create a customer care account on Twitter, too, as this enables customers to contact you easily without them having to compose an email or call. Just remember to have staff who regularly check the account in order to compose a speedy reply, so as to not annoy or frustrate the sender. Not just this, but by showcasing yourself on various platforms, you'll reach a wider audience, which can help to attract and engage new customers.
Promote your customers, not just your company
As well as promoting your business on social media, it's also a great opportunity to show off your customers. For example, share or repost favourable comments they may have made about your company or any blog posts they may have written about a particular product they purchased from you. Not only will this help to boost their online presence, you're also showing your customers how much you appreciate them, making them more likely to return to your services. After all, if they've gone out of their way to promote or compliment your business, it's only fair to return the favour.
Host a competition
Competitions are a great way to engage your customers. These are particularly effective when hosted on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, as they require little effort on the customer's part. For example, you could host a competition to win one of your products simply by following your account and re-posting the tweet or image to their followers. This will boost brand exposure and help to bring in new customers.
