Scotland's e learning courses 'boosted' by superfast broadband

E learning training in Scotland could well see a boost within the next ten years, as first minister Alex Salmond has announced that superfast broadband will be made available throughout the country by 2020.

Speaking during the Convention of the Highlands and Islands in Orkney on October 25th, Mr Salmon affirmed that this development would deliver "enormous opportunities" such as new jobs and investments to rural parts of the nation.

Noting that the bill for this plan is likely to be in excess of £30 million, the politician observed: "The decision to approve the bid marks a major step forward for the Highlands and Islands and we must now look to establishing a digital future for all."

This comes after Brightwave revealed that use of e learning technologies by public sector professionals is likely to increase, with 88 per cent intending to focus on this in a bid to meet government cost-reduction targets.
