New online course releases August 2013

A selection of new online courses are now available on the Virtual College website to start straight away. As with all of our training, discounts are available for volume orders and if there is anything you don’t see on the website that you want to know, please call our knowledgeable learner support team who will be happy to help.

Presentation Skills

Even for those experienced in dealing with people on a face-to-face basis, the idea of standing up and giving a full presentation may be daunting, and even for those without the nerves, getting the combination of materials right to keep the audience engaged is not an obvious task. Even those who are experienced in delivering presentations might learn a thing or two about why they’ve noticed a few people nodding off in the past.

Safer Recruitment

Our Safeguarding Children eAcademy has a long track record now of providing excellent training to people who work with children across the whole of the UK. The latest addition to this toolkit is an updated version of our ‘Safer Recruitment’ course. This course has been updated to reflect the recent changes to the Vetting and Baring scheme and the creation of the disclosure and barring service.

An Introduction to Estate Services is the latest offering from our Housing eAcademy. It helps those working within social housing to learn the regulatory framework for social housing amongst a host of other topics including performance management and service supervision. It also looks at how to deal with some trickier situations such as fire safety, dog fouling and untidy gardens.

It is specifically aimed at people working within the social housing sector, but may be useful to anybody who is involved in this line of work.

Introduction to the Right to Buy and Right to Aquire is another new course from the Housing eAcademy and teaches about the basics of the right to buy scheme that was introduced in 1980. It explores common questions that may arise about the scheme, and an understanding of which tenants may be eligible to enter into the scheme. It also looks at important information such as which cost factors you must ensure tenants are aware of before becoming a home owner.

Although the course is designed primarily for those working in the social housing sector, it may also be used to help tenants learn about their rights for this particular scheme.
