Virtual College’s Academies Show stand offers practical advice from Greenwood Academies Trust

Award-winning online training provider, Virtual College, will be showcasing its online safeguarding and compliance training resources at the Academies Show.

Ideal for teaching, support and ancillary staff, these training packages are already being used by large and small academies catering for all age groups throughout the UK.

Virtual College will be joined on their exhibition stand by Wayne Oldfield, the Trust Safeguarding Manager at the Greenwood Academies Trust, who will provide a valuable academy perspective on safeguarding training.

Created with input from subject matter experts from within the education sector, Virtual College’s engaging online resources can provide a flexible and economical solution for induction and compliance training.

Popular online courses include:

  • Safeguarding Children in Education
  • Radicalisation and Prevent Duty
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene for Catering
  • Fire Safety

Virtual College’s online learning management system, Enable, records all course allocations, completions and results, allowing learner progress tracking and measurement of training effectiveness.

Local policies, procedures and internal documents can be also uploaded alongside training, while a simple and easy reporting system provides rapid access to evidence of compliance for internal and external requirements, such as Ofsted.

For larger academy groups, Virtual College has created an online audit tool designed to simplify audits and make the process quicker and easier to manage, administer and report on.

Enable Audit from Virtual College is cloud-based so it can be accessed anywhere. It facilitates easy collection of records from a large number of academy sites who can submit records, evidence and action points which are recorded instantly in the centralised audit tool.

Detailed and comparative reports can then be generated at the click of a button so that progress and areas for improvement can be easily identified.

Clear, concise and self-explanatory, it aims to minimise the stress involved in audits by enabling online access for regular updates throughout the year.

Virtual College will be on stand 862 at the Academies Show which will take place at Excel London on 25th April.

Jaison Cresswell, Virtual College Learning Technology Manager, commented ‘Wayne and Virtual College staff look forward to meeting delegates face-to-face to discuss the current challenges in academies and how e-learning can help.’

Wayne Oldfield is the Trust Safeguarding Manager at the Greenwood Academies Trust. As such, he’s responsible for the strategic leadership of safeguarding across the Trust’s 32 open Academies, whilst also providing consultancy and support to other multi-academy trusts. In addition to this, Wayne chairs the education sub-group of the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Board and is a member of a national Leading Safeguarding in MATs Steering Group.
