Mental Health and Wellbeing

Business is waking up to the scale of poor mental health in the workplace. There are 1 in 4 men and women with mental health issues, suffering in silence in work, unable to seek help from colleagues or managers.  Fears of prejudice and exclusion are limiting employee's ability to achieve their full potential.

CIPD and Simplyhealth: Health and Well-being at Work survey 2018

The annual CIPD survey explores issues of health, well-being and absence in UK workplaces. This year the focus is on increases in unhealthy working practices such as presenteeism (people coming into work ill) and leaveism (people using annual leave to work), and the action employers need to take to encourage a healthier culture in the workplace.

Mental Health at Work

The Duke of Cambridge launched Mental Health At Work, a project Virtual College are privileged and proud to be part of. Curated by Mind and funded by The Royal Foundation as part of its Heads Together campaign. Mental Health At Work has been created to help SMEs improve workplace well-being.

The project offers employers resources and toolkits to help better manage mental health at work. Over the coming months we'll be adding some digital learning aimed at employees giving guidance and practical advice on how they can manage both their own and their colleagues mental health at work.
