Looking After Our Employees

Read about our regular Sports and Social events, company away daysand our internal self-directed learning programme.

Each year we take our employees off-site to enjoy a host of activities to help foster a collaborative environment, develop skills, connect with our teams and share knowledge. Our away days range in activities from team building, health and wellbeing, creative thinking and strategy all aimed at improving the performance of individuals and teams.

Our most recent away day, #VCFest, took place at the beautiful Rudding Park, located just outside Harrogate. The day was dedicated to health and wellbeing and included sports activities, live singing, dog cuddling, arts and crafts, yoga and dance sessions – all organised by the staff for the staff.

The VC away days are great for a fun day out of the office and the opportunity to get to know people from other areas of the business. The events really do help to bring everyone closer, start friendships, and make working across teams easier once we’re back in the office.

Sports and Social

Our Sports and Social Club is made up from selected members across the business who enthusiastically organise a range of activities and events throughout the year. Whether that is the annual Christmas Party, a company-wide ‘bake-off’, sporting events such as the Three Peaks Challenge or a variety of health and wellbeing events, they ensure there is something for everyone.

Curiosity

With learning and development at the heart of what we do, we’re focused on building a collaborative working environment and an inspiring learning culture that encourages self-driven learning.

Last year, we committed to rewarding collaboration and sharing expertise and knowledge, which led to the creation of our ‘Curiosity’ programme. As part of this programme, we took a consultative approach and invited thought leaders from across the L&D industry to help develop an internal co-creation group with a focus on meta-learning. The Curiosity group has since developed an engaging programme underpinned by a growth mindset where we can exchange ideas, skills, and knowhow to continue to develop personally and as a business.

I would say Learning Culture is not being afraid to say you don’t know something because you won’t be penalised for not knowing it, you’ll be given the opportunity to learn it.
