This course is provided by Learning4Business. Having completed this course you should be able to deal with people who are reluctant to provide facts or information and gain committment from others to facts, opinions or courses of action.

Sometimes, for instance when selling, persuading or negotiating it is important to be able to gain committment from the other person. In these instances, open and probing questions are of little use since they enable the respondent to provide further information, rather than committment.

This course will enable you to avoid protracted and unnecessary discussion by showing how and when to seek committment to fact, decision or course of action.

Much time is wasted in meetings and discussions because the participants do not know how to commit to the decision makers. An ability to do so, which this course will develop, means time and money saving as a result of shorter meetings, more succinct discussions and clearer decisions.

The course is divided into 3 sections covering the following areas:

  • the difference between open and closed questions
  • dealing with avoidance behaviour
  • gaining commitment

Certification

On completion of this course you will be able to download a Virtual College certificate.

Duration

Approximately 40 mins. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the course.
