Overview

Following the ECDL syllabus (version 5- Office 2007 / Windows Vista), this "Thirdforce" module teaches database skills using Microsoft Access 2007. After taking this course, learners will be able to enter and manipulate data in a database. They will be able to set up a database to store data in an organised structure. They will also be able to retrieve specific data and present it in a format that is easy to interpret and analyse. The course is supplemented by tasks, assignments and a project, which allow learners to practise their newly acquired skills and encourage communication.

  • Using the application – database concepts, first steps with databases, just settings
  • Tables - main operations, define keys, table design/layout, table relationships
  • Forms – working with forms
  • Retrieving information – main operations, queries
  • Prepare Outputs – prepare to print, print options

Accreditation

When you have successfully completed your course, you will be able to print out a Virtual College certificate. If you then wish to go on to take the official BCS (British Computer Society) test as part of the full ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) seven module qualification, please follow this link to find a BCS Test Centre in your area as you will need to take the invigilated test by visiting the test centre.

Certification

Duration

Approximately 10 Hours. It is estimated that this module will take approximately 10 hours to complete (depending on learning speed). As an e-learning module you can complete this training in convenient stages and revisit whenever you wish. The system will record your progress throughout. You have six months to complete the training and associated test.
