This National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) Early Years Foundation Stage - Enriching play and learning for 0-2 year olds training course is designed help learners understand what makes a positive environment for children's learning and development and is specifically for those who work with children in the 0-2 age group.

The course explores what we all mean by the words play and learning and will no doubt find that they mean different things to different people - sharing our understanding about this can help us broaden our thinking about the opportunities that play and learning bring for babies and young children

Objectives

On completion of this module learners will:

  • be able to share the philosophy underpinning a play-based curriculum
  • confidently define play and learning and it's impact on children
  • be familiar with the developmental milestones of young children and be able to make links between developmental areas
  • suggest ways to create a positive learning environment
  • describe the process of observation-review-planning to offer learning opportunities which are based on children's present and future interests and abilities
  • reflect on a range of play and learning opportunities in all areas of their setting
  • have explored the adult's role in children's learning and development and identified areas to move own practice forward

Certification

On completion of this course you will be able to download a Virtual College certificate.

Duration

Approximately 2 - 3 hours. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the course.

Target Audience

Produced by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) this course is aimed at practitioners who are working in an early years setting.

However, the learning content is suitable for anyone interested in learning more about child care best practice including those working in playgroups, pre-school, childminders and schools.
