Overview - Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings

Equality and inclusion within health and social care is vital to ensuring people’s differences are valued and that people are treated equally and supported to take part in whatever they wish to do.

This module has been designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to promote and implement equality and inclusion. On completion, learners will have an increased understanding of the importance of equality and inclusion, as well as the knowledge required to work in an inclusive way.

On completion of this course learners will be able to:

  • Be able to describe the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion
  • Be able to work in an inclusive way
  • Be able to promote diversity, equality and inclusion
  • Know how to access information and support about diversity

The content of this course has been mapped to the underpinning knowledge within the following units on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF):

Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
This unit is a mandatory unit within the following qualifications:
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce

Principles of Diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings – Level 3
This unit is mandatory for following qualifications:
Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
Level 3 Certificate in Induction into Adult Social Care in Northern Ireland

Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings – Level 2
This unit is mandatory for following qualifications:
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce

Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
This unit is a mandatory unit within the following qualifications:
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
