Following the ECDL syllabus (version 5- Office 2007 / Windows Vista), this "Thirdforce" course provides a firm foundation for developing IT security skills and increasing awareness of IT security issues. After taking this course, learners will know about the security issues that affect IT and will be able to protect their PCs, files and personal data from different forms of attack. Lesson Plan

  • System Performance Security - unwanted messages, malicious programmes, infiltration and hoaxes
  • Information Security – identity / authentication, confidentiality, identity theft
  • Technology Security – networks, connectivity, portable devices
  • Guidelines and procedures – including privacy
  • Data Security – including back-ups and storage

Accreditation

When you have successfully completed your course, you will be able to print out a Virtual College certificate. If you then wish to go on to take the official BCS (British Computer Society) test as part of the full ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) seven module qualification, please follow this link to find a BCS Test Centre in your area as you will need to take the invigilated test by visiting the test centre.

Duration

Approximately 10 Hours. It is estimated that this module will take approximately 10 hours to complete (depending on learning speed). As an e-learning module you can complete this training in convenient stages and revisit whenever you wish. The system will record your progress throughout. You have six months to complete the training and associated test.
