Learn how we helped with supporting a National Care Group to rebuild their LMS and achieve mandatory training compliance.
Social Care
Case Study
Elizabeth Finn Homes operates a group of eight high-quality care homes across the UK, supported by a central team working remotely. Their mission is to deliver exceptional, compassionate care, underpinned by well-trained, confident staff who meet and exceed regulatory standards.
Elizabeth Finn Homes were facing significant issues with the structure and management of their learning management system. Over several years, duplicate users and groups had been created, training pathways were inconsistent, and course allocations and deadlines were not functioning correctly.
Without a dedicated person trained to manage the LMS within each home, the system had become increasingly complex to navigate and, crucially, the organisation was not compliant with its mandatory training requirements.
The issues were so complex that we felt we might have to start from scratch. We didn’t see how we could correct all the errors that had built up over the years.
With a wide range of learners across care, clinical, domestic, and catering teams, and around 800 active learners, Elizabeth Finn Homes needed a reliable, structured solution that restored confidence, compliance, and clarity.
Working closely with Group Business Manager Zoe Holland, Virtual College Account Manager Joe Safranauskas carried out a full review of the LMS and recommended a complete restructure of the existing system.
The approach included:
To support mandatory and personal development needs, Elizabeth Finn Homes now use:
The simplicity and clarity of the LMS became a key benefit for the team:
It’s incredibly easy to navigate. Our users say they can use the system and follow the courses easily.
Throughout the project, Joe provided hands-on support, training, and system expertise. With a large volume of data transfer required, Elizabeth Finn Homes hired a temporary team member to support the work, whom Joe also trained and guided through each stage of the process.
Joe was absolutely brilliant and such a pleasure to work with. It was a stressful time with tight deadlines, and he was so supportive. His knowledge of Virtual College was exceptional and vital to the success of the project.
The rebuild took around two months, with regular communication, weekly Teams meetings, and ongoing post-project support whenever needed.
The impact of the LMS rebuild has been transformational for Elizabeth Finn Homes.
We now have a functional system that works, and accountable people in each home who are trained and confident. Our training stats have gone up because users are finally being allocated the right courses.

This whole experience has been really insightful and a great learning opportunity. I personally want to thank Joe for all his help and support during the project and afterwards. It was super stressful at times, but with Joe by my side it went smoothly, and he made it seem effortless.
