Operation Encompass Case Study

The Aim

Operation Encompass had a bold and inspiring vision: to reach every single police force and school within England and train all their safeguarding leads to deal with domestic abuse matters. They initially started out providing face-to-face training, which was proving successful, but with demanding full-time jobs, their time was limited.

To continue their reach, they knew they needed a solution that would not only be accessible, practical and portable but also still hold the necessary impact, and sensitivity, that the topic requires. They decided that online training was the way to go.

The Challenge

The project faced several key challenges, including limited time and resources, as it was run by a two-person charity. It needed to be highly cost-effective while still reaching a large audience spread across the country in a quick and efficient manner. Additionally, it was crucial to maintain the quality of their face-to-face training in the transition to a broader delivery format.

The Solution

The final result was a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that included three mid-length e-learning modules, a talking head video, a kinetic text video, and an animation. Additionally, we provided downloadable content to enhance accessibility and support learners in applying their knowledge effectively.

We worked closely with the charity from the beginning to the end of the project, ensuring their needs were met at every stage. We developed a suitable design for the course and attended their face-to-face briefings to gain a deep understanding of the material. Using this insight, we successfully translated their in-person training into effective online resources while maintaining the quality and impact of their original content.

The Results

We’re thrilled to share some incredible results:

Over 8,800 learners have been through the course. 92.84% of learners feel confident they can implement the Operation Encompass process within their school following the online training. 99.32% of the learners would recommend the course to others. Not only do the learners appreciate the course, but Operation Encompass also won the inaugural World Policing Award and beat competition from New Zealand, Dubai, Australia and forces from the UK. A fantastic achievement!
