Saddle sore Sam in cycle marathon to support Keighley Sea Cadets
Virtual College’s Sam Havers has been sponsored on a gruelling bike ride to raise funds for Keighley Sea Cadets.
On 12th and 13th August, Sam cycled the 127 miles from Leeds to Liverpool along the canal towpath.
Sam works as an instructional designer at online learning company, Virtual College, but in her spare time she volunteers as an instructor with the Keighley Sea Cadet unit.
The money raised will help to provide the cadets with life changing and character building experiences such as going to sea, learning to sail and kayak and taking part in adventure training - all of which help to build their confidence and self-esteem.
They also have the opportunity to gain accredited qualifications, improve their health and lifestyles and increase their potential in life.
“The challenge was great fun, and I wasn’t as sore as I expected following it,” commented Sam.
“I’m now putting plans into place to kayak the return journey sometime in the future!”
