Learning Technology Consultant (Account Management)

Location: Ilkley, West Yorkshire (Hybrid) or Remote

Customer satisfaction and commercial growth are at the heart of our account management function and we’re looking for somebody to join our established team, helping us to continue supporting our customers. Your customers will be using at least one of our core services; off the shelf training, learning technology or investing in completely bespoke built learning solutions – the perfect customer uses all three!

The crux of the role is a genuine interest in learning technology or digital learning solutions tied with natural organisation and the drive and confidence to challenge the status quo helping us to enhance our approaches every day.

Due to the exposure of the role, we’re ideally looking for somebody with demonstrable experience in the Learning Tech, EdTech or online learning space with at least a couple of years of experience in an account management role – if you’ve been on the business development side and you’re keen to move over into account management we’d love to speak to you too. You do need to have B2B experience and to not be phased by C-Suite level conversations.

Key Duties:

This is a long and varied list; you won’t be doing all this every day, but it hopefully shows the plates you could be spinning.

Account Management

  • Independently manage relationships, building a portfolio of contacts
  • Have conversations with customers / partners on their full L&D strategy, spotting future opportunities
  • Implement tailored nurturing plans per account
  • Cross sell and up sell additional products effectively
  • Build a strong pipeline, with regular opportunities added to the pipeline
  • React effectively and efficiently to incoming enquiries from existing customers
  • Develop long term relationships and embed Virtual College within the business
  • Seek customer feedback on product and service and log this with appropriate internal teams
  • Solve problems independently, implementing the right solution for both customer and VC
  • Implement success and impact measure KPIs and takes responsibility for progress
  • Recognise commercial risk regarding the management, delivery, or commercials of the account, recommend and implement the right solution independently
  • Support and lead on customer engagement activity including presenting on live webinars, co-hosting podcasts, and co-authoring blog posts

Learning Technology Consultancy

  • Have a detailed understanding of the services, products and packages delivered to customers
  • Confidently translate technical information relating to eLearning, systems and content creation theory to customers and prospects in a language they understand
  • Spot opportunities to maximise our products and services for a client base, sector or new market
  • Understand existing and upcoming products within our areas of expertise and recommends new products to open up new or existing markets
  • Investigate internal and external blockers and problems and presents solutions based on our products and services
  • Develop good commercial awareness and understands the impact of decisions and actions - to scope solutions to time, quality and budget
  • Develop good knowledge of eLearning methodologies and technologies
  • Understand the competitor landscape in the sector
  • Lead the thinking to develop learning technology solutions and concepts for clients and prospects
  • Challenge specifications to deliver the best solution to meet the learning objectives
  • Work with partner organisations to deliver enhanced learning solutions

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Account management experience for at least 2 years
  • An understanding and ideally practical experience of managing customers in the learning tech, edtech, online learning space
  • Know how to account plan for commercial growth
  • B2B sales experience
  • An understanding of the Learning & Development industry
  • If you have an established network of thought leaders (and buyers) in the L&D industry that’d be a huge bonus!
