Online learning courses could keep staff motivated
Bosses should engage with their teams in order to motivate them, it has been suggested.
Employee relations adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Mike Emmott indicated staff need to feel valued and this could be achieved by giving them the option to boost their skills set with a distance learning course.
He claimed just a small proportion of personnel get regular feedback from their line managers about their performance.
Mr Emmott explained there is no single way to keep workers on side and happy, but supervisors should inspire their labour forces.
And younger workers seem harder to please, as they are more demanding about their expectations they should get from their role, he remarked.
Furthermore, many will leave their positions in order to get what they want, the specialist added.
His comments follow the release of a survey by first direct, which revealed 28 per cent of people have changed jobs in a bid to find an improved working environment and a better boss.
