Child N; Serious Case Review

The Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Board (NSCB) Serious Case Review was initially commissioned following the serious injury of a young child when she was five weeks old.

Those working on the case analysed the circumstances in which these serious injuries occurred and whether or not these services provided the best response required to address the childs needs.

A summary of the January 2017 update of the Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Board Serious Case Review is now available here.

Following the review, a ?6 step briefing? was created by Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Board (NSCB). It is being used to disseminate the learning to the NSCB workforce in team meetings etc.

The briefing covers:

  • The Background
  • Safeguarding Concerns
  • The Incident
  • The Review
  • The Findings
  • Recommendations

And goes on to cover good practice and evidence as a result of this review and a similar review. Full details are available here

The NSCB anticipates using the Virtual College?s Create tool to produce online resources which will enhance the 6 step briefings and allow the learning to be disseminated further.
