E-learning in 'high demand' despite cuts

An e-learning course provider has reported higher demand than expected for the first quarter of 2011.

TalktoCanada.com, a company which specialises in English language training, stated that sales volumes have increased in comparison to this time last year.

Businesses and students alike have been signing up to use its products - despite previous industry speculation that the global recession would lead to training department budget cuts.

The success is partly due to the global acceptance of online learning aids such as Skype, which Marc Anderson, chief executive of the firm, said allows students to "take a class" from their own home or office.

"Clients have discovered that learning business English in a virtual classroom over Skype is more or as effective as traditional classroom training," he added.

Last month, BCLocalNews.com reported that e-learning technology was being considered as a solution to overcrowded classrooms in Surrey, Canada.
