Experience 'a must for e-learning students'

Individuals taking e-learning courses have been told they must also take advantage of any work opportunities in the field they eventually wish to work in.

Steve Burford, founder of Wealthystudent.co.uk, said students need to get out there and not simply rely on their education to find a job in the present market, but they must also build relevant experience.

He commented: "Graduate employers are looking for much more than a degree nowadays, they need to see that you have some experience in the sector you are going into."

Mr Burford added that students need to prove their worth to employers even before they have an interview, meaning they have to start building their skills at a very early stage in order to make themselves as attractive as possible to businesses.

Meanwhile, the Trades Union Congress stated that the government's refusal to change the interest rate on student loans from the retail prices index to the consumer prices index will leave graduates thousands of pounds deeper in debt.
