Higher tuition fees 'should not be a barrier to e-learning at university'

An increase in the level of tuition fees charged by universities across the UK should not be a barrier to those who wish to further their education.

Pam Tatlow, chief executive of million+, said the important thing for those taking on e-learning and other university courses to remember is that none of these fees will have to be paid upfront and there will also be additional help available to those who need it.

She commented: "The reality is that nobody should miss out on the chance of going to university because of the new system that the government has brought in."

According to data compiled by the BBC, far more English university students will be paying the maximum tuition fee of £9,000 a year than was originally expected.

Indeed, half of the 54 universities which took part in a BBC survey said they would charge £9,000 for all courses.
