Korea using online learning courses to promote tourism

An e-learning programme has been launched by the Korean Tourism Organization.

The online training platform is focused on people in European and American regions and should help them in promoting the attractiveness and safeness of South Korea.

People who complete the virtual learning environment could become "Korea Specialists", the organisation stated.

These individuals must have completed a sufficiently high volume of sales with product developers and smaller travel agencies and will be rewarded with a variety of incentives.

E-learning courses can be made in such a way as to enable members of the public to increase their knowledge with ease, the tourism body remarked.

It can be applied to product promotions and developments in the sector and the online learning innovation could be used to alter the tourism plans of people considering a visit to South Korea.

The e-learning programme will contain surveys, tests and main tourist information, as well as an introduction and explanation of all the regions in Korea.

People who use the virtual learning environment can read a general summary of the country and take part in themed Korean tours.

It can assist general travellers who want to discover more about the country through distance learning online, providing a summary of the nation and its tourist attractions.

The online training platform can be updated with fresh and relevant information and could provide substantial benefits to tourism workers promoting holidays in the nation to European and American customers.

However, they must achieve a minimum of 80 points on the standard examination at the end of the e-learning course - which contains 25 questions - before they can be provided with certificates from the Korea Tourism Organization.

These successful individuals will be given a number of support packages, such as the promotion of their professionalism to travel package developers and retail travel agents with high numbers of sales.

The Korean Tourism Organization expressed its wish that users of the online learning course will be better able to understand the country, telling customers that it hopes the "online educational program serves you well in learning more about Korea".
