Managers to invest in online training to ensure they have skilled workforce?

Managers should invest in online training to develop the skills of their labour forces, it has been observed.

According to a survey by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), 48 per cent of supervisors stated they expect to make more redundancies next year, while 42 per cent do not think their establishment has the right people to meet it's objectives in 2011.

A total of 58 per cent of respondents blamed skills shortages for this and 45 per cent observed poor morale is the reason why they do not expect to fulfil expectations.

Ruth Spellman, chief executive at the CMI, suggested online training could be one avenue worth exploring to ensure workers constantly build upon their qualifications.

"Business leaders will need to be actively looking for alternative ways to continue to develop the skills of their staff, despite restricted budgets," she added.

A recent article on Training Zone, claimed enterprises need to "move with the times" and embrace online training courses.
