Megan in last minute ‘Race for Life’

Just 3 days before the event, Addingham’s Megan Ridley decided to enter the Ilkley 5k ‘Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK. The race took place on 11th June, starting at East Holmes Playing Field, opposite the Ilkley Lido entrance.

"Luckily I run in my spare time so, having decided to enter at the last minute, I didn’t need to work to a training plan “explained Megan.

“I was pleased to complete it in 30 minutes as it was the first sponsored 5K I have run."

Megan is Production Manager at Ilkley-based online learning company, Virtual College, who were pleased to step in and contribute £150 to Megan’s fundraising efforts which currently stand at £320.

Megan added: “I really enjoyed taking part in a worthwhile cause and the atmosphere was great! I will definitely be doing another one in the future.

“A big thank you to Virtual College and all of my other sponsors who stepped in within 3 days to make their generous donations.
