Employees may want to consider online learning courses to boost their qualifications, as one expert has claimed up-skilling is imperative in the current jobs market.
Sarah Clover, spokeswoman for notgoingtouni.co.uk, indicated people who are prepared to undertake more training - which can be achieved via online training courses - will be seen as good value for money by their bosses.
This, she observed, is important as many firms may be reviewing staff numbers because of the current financial climate.
"Those who have consistently added to their knowledge base are generally better placed if they do find themselves out of work," Ms Clover added.
Individuals with an enhanced skill set will have more options when they are looking for a job, she noted.
According to Off to a Good Start? Jobs for Youth, young people are more than twice as likely to be unemployed and the organisation suggested the government needs to take proactive steps to get people in this age group into work.
