Virtual College comes into bat as new sponsor of successful Birstwith Cricket Club

A new sponsor has been attracted for all of Birstwith Cricket Club’s teams following their success this season.

Online learning provider, Virtual College, has contributed £600 towards the club’s shirts and indoor nets.

This season Birstwith’s first team came third in the top division and won the Buller Cup with Jim Riley hitting a 37 ball century in the cup quarter finals. In addition, the Under 15 team won the Bob Mellor cup and the third team is in contention for promotion.

Riley Hirst, aged 4, (pictured) provided a sneak preview of the new team shirts which will be ready for next season. Riley’s dad, George Hirst, is a leading wicket taker for the Birstwith first team.

Martin Macewan, Birstwith’s third team captain, arranged the sponsorship with Virtual College, where he works as an instructional designer:”It is great to have this sponsorship tied up for the next three seasons.

“We look forward to a long and successful partnership building on the success we have had as a club this year.”
