Description
Terrorist attacks have devastating impacts, but what can businesses and organisations do to prevent them? Following the tragic terrorist attack on the Ariana Grande concert go-ers at Manchester Arena in 2017, a statutory public inquiry found lessons could be learned to prevent something like this happening again. Families of victims and campaigners fought to get more protection against terrorist attacks. As a result, the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s Law, is now coming into effect.
Venues and events that can host over 200 members of the public are at particular risk of an attack. That includes leisure facilities, retail sites, markets, schools, hotels, churches, train stations, attraction sites and much more. Even events held in open-air venues can be affected, so everyone should be aware of what to do to prevent an attack or minimise the harm done.
Martyn’s Law aims to prevent attacks and protect the public if the worst was to happen. Businesses and organisations are now responsible for preparing staff for potential terrorist threats. This Martyn's Law course explains who needs to enhance preparedness for a terrorist attack, describes security measures need to be implemented under this new legislation, and raises general awareness of the threats that terrorists pose.
This counter terrorism training course helps introduce everyone to staying alert and being vigilant when it comes to potential terrorist attacks, as well as introducing responsible persons to the requirements they need to fulfil in order to comply with Martyn’s Law.

Frequently Asked Questions
Martyn’s Law becomes enforceable from April 2027, with steep fines for those organisations that are found to be non-compliant. Whilst training on the requirements of Martyn’s Law invariably useful, it’s not a requirement in itself for all organisations. However, staff should be aware of the unique security measures in place in their organisation if it falls under the requirements of the law.
