Welsh health board wins award for e-learning programme
An NHS organisation in south Wales has been handed a prestigious award for its new online learning project.
The Abertawe Bro Morgannwg (ABM) University Health Board, based in Port Talbot, was given the Social Care Accolade during a ceremony at Cardiff City Hall last week.
It received the prize, which was handed out by the Care Council for Wales, in recognition of a flexible e-training programme designed to help staff who support patients with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
Dr Edwin Jones, service development consultant at the ABM University Health Board, described the online learning system as "a great achievement".
He added: "Staff are gaining an accredited qualification and we have had great feedback from everyone who has taken part in the e-learning programme."
Nearly 700 candidates from across Wales have signed up for the online courses since the project was launched.
Serving a population of approximately 600,000 people, ABM is one of the largest health boards in Wales.
