A team at Broadmoor Hospital have been awarded for their use of e-learning technology in training staff, as part of the West London Mental Health NHS Trust.
The learning and development team were given runner-up status for the best healthcare strategy at the Healthcare People Management Awards, according to the Wokingham Times.
In its report of February 2011, the Care Quality Commission noted the team's noteworthy implementation of an e-learning programme accessed via a virtual learning environment.
The system helped around 4,000 staff achieve an 80 per cent compliance rate across the majority of the trust's courses and service delivery units.
Andy Wells, associate director of learning and development, said: "This award reflects the hard work and commitment of those delivering the training and all the staff and managers in services who have contributed."
Judges noted the ease with which online learning had allowed staff to improve their skill sets and said this was one of the major reasons they chose to award the west London trust.
